Tennis: 2026 Grand Slam Winners, Finals and Davis Cup

Tennis has four Grand Slams, a season-ending finals event for the top eight on each tour, and two national-team competitions, the Davis Cup and the Billie Jean King Cup. This page covers the 2026 season so far, what the big events are, and what is still to come. Smaller tour events are left out on purpose. We follow the tournaments that decide the season.

The four Grand Slams of 2026

For the first time in a while, no one player owned the year. Three different men and three different women shared the eight major singles titles.

  • Australian Open (January to February): Carlos Alcaraz beat Novak Djokovic 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, 7-5 in the final. It was his first Australian title and his seventh major, and it made him the youngest man to complete the career Grand Slam. On the women's side, Elena Rybakina beat world number one Aryna Sabalenka 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.
  • Roland-Garros (May to June): Alexander Zverev beat Flavio Cobolli in five sets for his first major title, in his fourth final. He was the first German man to win a major since Boris Becker in 1996. Nineteen-year-old Mirra Andreeva beat qualifier Maja Chwalinska 6-3, 6-2 for her first major. Alcaraz missed the tournament with a wrist injury.
  • Wimbledon (29 June to 12 July): Jannik Sinner defended his title, beating Zverev 6-7(7), 7-6(2), 6-3, 6-4 in the final. Linda Noskova won her first major, beating Karolina Muchova.
  • US Open (August to September): Zverev beat Ben Shelton 6-3, 7-6(2), 5-7, 6-2 for his second major of the year and his first in New York. Rybakina beat two-time defending champion Sabalenka 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 for the women's title.

Two names appear twice. Zverev won two of the four men's majors after losing his first three major finals. Rybakina won two of the four women's majors, both over Sabalenka. Sabalenka reached both finals and lost both, which is the story of the women's season.

How the tennis year is organised

  • Grand Slams: Australian Open, Roland-Garros, Wimbledon and the US Open. Best-of-five sets for men, best-of-three for women, in a 128-player draw.
  • ATP and WTA tours: the weekly events that build the world ranking. The season ends with the top eight singles players and top eight doubles teams.
  • Team events: the Davis Cup for men and the Billie Jean King Cup for women, where countries compete rather than individuals.

Still to come in 2026

The Nitto ATP Finals are in Turin, Italy, from 15 to 22 November 2026 at the Inalpi Arena. It is an indoor hard-court event for the top eight men. The WTA Finals have moved from Riyadh to Indian Wells, California, and are scheduled for 8 to 15 November 2026. Check the official tour sites before planning around exact start times, because order of play is only published a day ahead.

Team tennis

Italy won the 2025 Davis Cup Finals in Bologna, beating Spain 2-0 in the final on 23 November 2025. It was their third title in a row. Flavio Cobolli, who reached the Roland-Garros final, won one of the two singles matches that clinched the tie.

Why Sinner and Alcaraz still matter

Zverev's breakthrough can look like a changing of the guard, but the ground is less settled than that. Alcaraz won the Australian Open and Sinner defended Wimbledon, so the two players who shared most majors since 2023 still took two of the four. What changed is how close the field has come. Zverev also reached the Wimbledon final this year, so his two wins were not a one-week fluke.

Follow it live

The Schedule & Live page has a live tennis card. It is a third-party feed, so it can include smaller tour events and is not a full list. Our own schedule text covers only the major international events we have checked against official sources.
